Get a taste of Italian Jazz this November
From 6th-23rd November, The Roma Jazz Festival celebrates the jazz culture of Italy, a music genre prevalent since the Second World War and celebrated at this festival for the past four decades.
In the early years, the festival was held on the staircase of the Palazzo della Civiltà e del Lavoro before being moved to the Tre Fontane. Nowadays, the Auditorium Parco della Musica holds the event and has been performed at by the likes of Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and Ray Charles. Since these changes, the festival has become more widely known across the globe and is now considered one of the most revered celebrations of music in Italy.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the event with a number of musicians performing all varieties of jazz. Expect to see the likes of John Scofield, Fabrizio Conzoli and Alain Bedard playing some of their best hits. A series of performances in November will see some of the best contemporary artists channelling legends from the early 20th century with some of the finest improvisation which makes the genre iconic.
